15 Nov Your Guide to Exploring the Hot Chocolate Trail on PEI’s South Shore
PEI’s Hot Chocolate Trail is back for its third year, with new flavours and old classics! Spread out the fun by tasting a new hot chocolate creation each weekend or indulge in a full day of hot chocolate trail touring!
If you are spending a day exploring many locations along the hot chocolate trail, bring your friends and family along! Instead of purchasing a hot chocolate for everyone at each stop, split a hot chocolate between a few people. This way, you can experience many flavours in one day without worrying about a hot chocolate-induced coma!
Here is your guide to exploring PEI’s South Shore hot chocolate stops in one day of festive fun!
Victoria by the Sea
The first stop of the day is the charming, seaside town of Victoria by the Sea! Island Chocolates is a family-owned business selling award-winning fine chocolates, so it only makes sense that they would use their chocolate-making expertise to create a new hot chocolate flavour every weekend! Their creations will include traditional, white, candy cane, and spicy hot chocolate! While in Victoria by the Sea, walk to the waterfront for a scenic view of the ocean.
Crapaud & Bedeque
Next up is the Foxy Fox Coffee House & Boutique! This is a coffee shop and clothing boutique in the small town of Crapaud. This season, the shop is offering a Dulce De Leche Hot Chocolate with creamy dulce hot chocolate topped with fresh whipped cream and dulce de leche drizzle.
Foxy Fox is also serving hot chocolate at their location in Royalty Crossing and Blackbush Resort!
Summerside
Summerside is a hub of decadent hot chocolate creations! With five hot chocolate locations, you can finish your day by taking your pick from these delectable flavours!
Knead a Brake Bakery is serving two creative types of hot chocolate! First up is their Blueberry Dark Hot Chocolate with marshmallows and fresh mini chocolate “kroissants”. The children will love the Grinch Hot Chocolate with sweet kiwi white hot chocolate and a gluten-free “kookie”! While you are here, pick up a few freshly made bakery items for later.
Samuel’s Coffee House is offering a signature Sammy’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate with dark chocolate cocoa, house-made orange syrup, and topped with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a classic orange wedge!
Holman’s Ice Cream is well-known across PEI for its homemade ice cream, so their Not-So-Hot Chocolate Shake with vanilla ice cream is sure to be a hit! The shake is mixed with Holman’s special hot chocolate powder recipe and topped with homemade chocolate sauce, marshmallows, whipped cream, and crushed candy canes!
Sunrise Breakfast and Cafe couldn’t pick just one hot chocolate to serve, so they made four! Their Hot Hot Chocolate has pepper powder and cinnamon to add spice and toasted marshmallows on top! The English Hot Chocolate blends black tea and chocolate milk and the Tropical Hot Chocolate is a mix of coconut milk and chocolate milk with coconut chips on top! Lastly, Sunrise Breakfast and Cafe offers Osmanthus Night with sweet osmanthus paste and chocolate milk.
PEI Roti Fusion Cuisine Inc. is sticking to its roots with Caribbean Hot Cocoa Tea! This decadent drink features grated cocoa balls, cinnamon sticks, ground nutmeg, and sweetened condensed milk.
While in Summerside, stop at Kool Breeze Farms to get some ready-made Salted-Caramal Hot Chocolate Packages! Head to the ADL Store for some milk and you have the perfect at-home hot chocolate ready to go for cozy evenings with family!
With so many places to visit, you can make the Hot Chocolate Trail on PEI a new yearly holiday tradition with your friends or family!
